Healthcare providers are often unaware of the hurdles that patients face in order to receive care for their chronic pain conditions. Patients are often frustrated by the healthcare system and feel undertreated. Patients may not have the necessary skills to navigate the complicated healthcare system when suffering from chronic pain. This patient interview/forum will allow physicians to better understand ways to communicate with patients professionally and to understand their nuanced concerns regarding the complicated healthcare system. The activity is designed to educate physicians, nurses, healthcare administrators, and patients on the nuances of delivering and receiving healthcare for chronic pain.

Statement of Need

Healthcare providers are often unaware of the hurdles that patients face in order to receive care for their chronic pain conditions. Patients are often frustrated by the healthcare system and feel undertreated. Patients may not have the necessary skills to navigate the complicated healthcare system when suffering from chronic pain. This patient interview/forum will allow physicians to better understand ways to communicate with patients professionally and to understand their nuanced concerns regarding the complicated healthcare system. The activity is designed to educate physicians, nurses, healthcare administrators, and patients on the nuances of delivering and receiving healthcare for chronic pain.

Accreditation Statement(s)

In support of improving patient care, this activity has been planned and implemented by Dannemiller. Dannemiller is jointly accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME), the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE), and the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), to provide continuing education for the healthcare team.

Physician Assistants

Dannemiller has been authorized by the American Academy of PAs (AAPA) to award AAPA Category 1 CME credit for activities planned in accordance with AAPA CME Criteria. This activity is designated for a maximum of 0.75 AAPA Category 1 CME credits. Approval is valid until 07/17/2027. PAs should only claim credit commensurate with the extent of their participation.

Method of Participation

This activity should take approximately .75 hour(s) to complete. Participants should first read the objectives and other introductory CME/CE information and then proceed to the educational activity. To receive credit for this activity, participants must complete the post-test with a passing score of 80% and then complete the evaluation. Credit is provided through 07/17/2027. No credit will be given after this date. There is $11.99 fee to participate in this activity.
