Dr. Brian Boies is the Senior Vice President, Chief Academic Officer, and Designated Institutional Official at Cone Health in Greensboro, North Carolina. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Bioengineering, cum laude, from Rice University and received his medical degree from the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School. He completed residency training in Anesthesiology at UT Health San Antonio, where he served as Chief Resident, followed by fellowship training in Pain Medicine.
Dr. Boies previously served as an Associate Professor of Anesthesiology at UT Health San Antonio. He has held multiple senior education leadership roles, including Residency Program Director, Vice Chair of Education, and Assistant Dean of Education and Innovation for Graduate Medical Education. He remains actively engaged in undergraduate and graduate medical education as an Adjunct Associate Professor of Anesthesiology at the University of North Carolina School of Medicine and as Site Director for UNC medical students at the Greensboro campus.
He earned a Master of Business Administration from the University of Texas at San Antonio in 2022 and a Master of Legal Studies from Wake Forest University School of Law in 2025. Dr. Boies is Editor in Chief of PainFile, a pain medicine article abstracting service provided by Dannemiller, Inc., and is a strong advocate for evidence-based medicine.
