About the Dannemiller Foundation
The Dannemiller Memorial Educational Foundation was founded in 1984 in memory of Francis Joseph Dannemiller, MD. Dr. Dannemiller was the Chairman and Director of the Anesthesiology Residency Training Program at Wilford Hall USAF Medical Center in San Antonio, Texas. He encouraged and stimulated an interest in research by his own involvement that resulted in numerous protocols and publications. His dedication to medicine and his devotion to teaching others in both the art and science of Anesthesiology and Pain Management was an inspiration to all who knew him. He often commented that his primary goal was to "motivate others to learn what they did not know". This remains the philosophy of the Dannemiller Memorial Educational Foundation.
Since its founding in 1984, the Dannemiller Foundation has been an accredited provider of the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME). This allows the Dannemiller Foundation to grant Category 1 Continuing Medical Education Credit for all educational activities that we sponsor. As an accredited sponsor, the Dannemiller Foundation carefully adheres to the Essential Areas and policies of the ACCME as well as the policies and guidelines established by the American Medical Association (AMA) and the Food and Drug Administration (FDA). The Dannemiller Foundation maintains adherence to the PhRMA Code and OIG guidelines as well. All educational activities sponsored by the Dannemiller Foundation are scientifically rigorous, carefully referenced, and free of commercial bias. Educational programs that are commercially supported by the pharmaceutical industry adhere to these strict standards and provide full disclosure on the source of the commercial support and the individual disclosure of the faculty who provide the educational content for the program.
The Dannemiller Foundation has also developed and instituted specific policies and procedures to ensure that all conflicts of interest with faculty and planners is quickly and effectively resolved through a careful and thorough peer review process. The Foundation's Clinical Content Review Committee, consisting of academic physicians in a wide variety of specialties who have no conflicts of interest, work with Dannemiller to peer review our educational activities in a timely manner. This careful review, which is thoroughly documented, ensures that all conflicts of interest are resolved and that every CME activity is scientifically rigorous, evidence based, thoroughly referenced and commercially balanced.
Dannemiller has also developed a proprietary Outcomes Study process allowing us to survey every CME participant who completes a certified educational activity. This email and Internet based Outcomes Study process creates a unique outcomes survey tool for each individual CME activity and provides it in an email format that can be quickly and easily completed online and submitted back to the Dannemiller Foundation. The success of this Outcomes Study process has been exceptional with an overall response rate of over 24% of the thousands of participants surveyed since March 2005. At Dannemiller, we are committed to the development of quality survey instruments and to the Outcomes Study process that ensures that our participants learn from our activities and this knowledge is translated into better patient care. These Outcomes Studies, as well as our quality Evaluation Reports are provided to our joint sponsors, faculty and commercial supporters and are used extensively by the Dannemiller Foundation to create new needs assessments to ensure we are meeting the educational needs of physicians and other healthcare professionals.
The Dannemiller Foundation has a vast network of physician thought-leaders that we use to develop the educational activities we sponsor. These physicians are some of the finest clinicians and academicians in the world today. Each is dedicated to the provision of quality educational programs to their fellow physicians on the topics that they want and need to improve the quality of healthcare provided to patients.
The Foundation headquarters, located in San Antonio, Texas, is staffed with enthusiastic and experienced CME professionals who are dedicated to the development of the finest quality educational programs possible. Indeed, our motto is "Simply the Finest in Continuing Medical Education". We also have a team of Internet experts that allows the Dannemiller Foundation to address a national and worldwide audience in our core subject areas of pain and anesthesiology through the development and maintenance of our educational websites www.pain.com and www.anesthesiologyonline.com.
The Dannemiller Foundation also works with non-accredited organizations to develop and accredit educational activities through our joint sponsorship program. We have developed an organization designed to work closely with education and communications companies to design, develop and present educational programs in almost every media to meet the needs of physicians and other healthcare professionals.
The Dannemiller Foundation is also accredited by the California Board of Registered Nursing to provide Continuing Education (CE) credit for Registered Nurses. We also work with the American Association of Nurse Anesthetists (AANA) to provide CE credit for Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetists (CRNAs). We also have long-standing relationships with several accredited pharmacy providers to provide Continuing Pharmacy Education (CPE) credit for educational programs. Additionally, we can work with almost any accredited organization to provide the appropriate continuing education credit for the educational programs we develop.
Regardless of the type or format of the educational activity, the Dannemiller Foundation is dedicated to providing only the finest quality educational content possible that is in full compliance with the guidelines of the ACCME, AMA, and FDA.
